PORVORIM: Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho today said that he will tweak the Industrial Policy to make it more beneficial to Goans.
“Industries coming to Goa will be forced to employ Goans. Industrial policy is being improved to facilitate more locals being trained and employed. The work of upgrading the industry policy has started,” said Godinho.
He further stated that his priority is to bring in and expand eco-friendly industries in the State while stating that his aim is to help the industries and remove any bottlenecks that may exist so that the processes involved for industries are smoother.
“Instead of asking for permissions from multiple departments, we are working on a single-window clearance mechanism for those industries who want to set up their base in Goa. They can send the same permission to multiple departments. This will help save a lot of time and help the industries,” Godinho said.
Godinho said that only non-polluting and green industries will be allowed to set up in the state.
“In Goa, we do not encourage or allow polluting industries. Only green industries are welcome. Among existing industries, we compel them to follow the pollution norms of the highest standards,” he said.
Speaking on Corlim Industrial Estate, Godinho said that of the 107 industrial units in Khorlim industrial unit, 21 are not functioning.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said that in the last 3 years, almost 7 Lakh Sqmtr of land has been converted by IPB headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, whereas not a single employment is generated.
Godinho said that as far as Goa Industrial Development Corporation(Goa-IDC) and Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board(Goa-IPB) are concerned, no proposals have been received from a hospitality company requesting land at Quitol Industrial Estate or Auxiliary parkland.
“As far as Quepem Constituency is concerned, Government is considering to take up Special Project for Quitol Industrial Estate which can generate employment for local youth,” he added
