FATORDA: Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai said that vote banks are taken into consideration when evaluating infrastructure projects in Margao rather than traffic or congestion.
In response to the Center’s decision to reject the Comba flyover a crowded railroad crossing in favour of the Victor Hospital-La Flor flyover at Margao, Sardesdai declared that vote banks are required for the Margao flyovers.
He said that it is now abundantly evident to Madgaonkars that Baba’s support base, rather than hard traffic data or empirical road management principles, was taken into account by the Double Engine Sarkar when approving the Victor Hospital flyover over the more important Comba one.
“With careless priorities, nonexistent planning, and arbitrary, irrational, and senseless decisions, we are methodically destroying the very basis of our revered Dambab’s Sthal, endangering its present, and wiping out any chance of preserving its future,” Sardesai declared.
The Fatorda MLA said he would bring up the matter in the upcoming Goa Legislative Assembly session, citing Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s assurance to him on the Assembly floor that the government would give the Comba railway crossing flyover top priority.
He said, “Let the Chief Minister explain to the Madgavkars and the people of Salcete why the government did not give the Comba flyover priority.”
