SANCOALE: Former Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar sings praises of former Cortalim BJP MLA Alina Saldhana, claiming that she has undertaken various public works but did not tom-tom on it.
Borkar pointed out that the outsider-insider issue raised by Panchayat Minister Godinho may backfire since people all over Goa are upset over this issue.
It is a true saying and aptly applies to politics that “nothing is permanent”. Once a foe of former BJP Cortalim MLA and present AAP leader Alina Saldhana, Ramakant Borkar has now seen turning into a friend. In a press conference held in Vasco, Borkar has claimed that Saldhana, during her tenure, has done several developmental works that people needed the most, but like others, she did not go gaga about it.
He also questioned why Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has been praising and indirectly pitching Sancoale sarpanch Girish Pillai as a Cortalim BJP candidate.
Borkar said that Pillai did not do any significant work when he was a sarpanch for around three years whereas he (Borkar) did follow up on several projects in the village from MRF facility to now wet waste treatment plant.
“But now, during the inauguration of these projects, the Minister seems to be praising Pillai and has not even given credit to me who has actually done follow up of these projects,” he said.
Commenting on Godinho publicly supporting Pillai as a Cortalim BJP candidate, Borkar opined that the insider and outsider debate is being witnessed all over Goa and it was not right move by Godinho to raise this issue here. This issue might also backfire on Godinho,” he opined.
People whose forefathers and the present generation who are living in Goa will have affection, love towards the constituency and the village and those who are natives of other states will not have affection and care about Goa as these people have come here to do business, earn and go back” Borkar added.
