The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) have written to the President of India Ramnath Kovind saying that instead of managing COVID19, the BJP government at the Centre is busy toppling elected governments in the States.
“India is passing through a grave calamity, the Covid-19 pandemic in tandem with an economic disaster on one hand, and Chinese aggression on our boundaries on the other hand. At this juncture, it is the Constitutional and moral duty of the Government of India to utilize its resources and Constitutional machinery to tackle the grave situation at hand,” the letter submitted to Governor Satya Pal Malik said.
It further, said unfortunately, the Government of India led by Narendra Modi and the Ruling BJP, are actively engaged in toppling democratically elected Governments across our Great Nation instead of focusing on the pandemic, economic revival and tackling China.
“We may add that it was the duty of the Government of India to take proactive, remedial measures to tackle the pandemic situation at its very onset. The moment the first case was reported on 31st January, 2020, the Government of India should have cancelled all international flights with immediate effect and after making fool-proof arrangements to carry out extensive testing, to trace, quarantine and treat those found to be Corona positive. It goes without saying that such a proactive approach would have effectively curbed the rise in cases and the result of 15 lakh plus people affected that we see today,” the letter reads.
The GPCC said the BJP has already toppled the democratically elected state Governments in Manipur, Goa, Karnataka, MP and installed BJP Governments through backdoors, preposterously against the wishes and mandate of the People.
“It goes without saying that a hazardous nexus of Muscle Power, Money Power and Law Enforcement Agencies have been unconstitutionally employed to threaten and lure the MLAs to resign and join the BJP under duress,” the letter says.
“We, therefore, appeal to Your Excellency to immediately take cognizance of the illegal, undemocratic, untoward and unconstitutional actions of the BJP, under the aegis of the Central Government, in Rajasthan and other states, and to beseech you to discharge your Constitutional responsibility,” the letter reads.
