PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has announced the introduction of a special Integrated Oncology OPD at Goa Medical College (GMC), in collaboration with the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, and Tata Memorial Hospital (ACTREC), aimed at strengthening cancer treatment in the state.
The proposed OPD will adopt a holistic approach by integrating modern medicine with Ayurveda, offering improved and accessible care for cancer patients.
In a related development, the Government of Goa on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a new Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Porvorim, in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, and MLA Michael Lobo.
The PHC project, being executed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) at a cost of ₹19.48 crore, will have a 32-bed capacity and include facilities such as OPD services, dialysis unit, diagnostic services, wards, and parking.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve healthcare access for residents of Porvorim and nearby areas, while complementing the state’s broader push to upgrade medical services.
