Margao: “Crores are spent on Events. Sadly, the intellectually bankrupt BJP Government’s Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has no money to release Advertisements & organise a State Level Function to mark the beginning of the Centenary of Great Goan, Dnyanpeeth Awardee Ravindrabab Kelekar. Learn to respect Goan Heroes!,” stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.”
“I had reminded the Government about the Birth Centenary Year of acclaimed Goan Konkani Poet & Writer Manoharrai Sardessai and Dnyanpeeth Awardee Ravindrabab Kelekar. It is sad that the Government has ignored such tall Icons of Goa,” charged Yuri Alemao.
Alemao said that it is the responsibility of the Government to Celebrate Goan Heroes.
“Government has no right to ignore Goans while celebrating National Heroes. I demand that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant should stop his selective approach and perform his duties as Chief Minister & not as RSS Pracharak,” said Yuri Alemao.
Alemao also praised Governor of Goa P S Sreedharan Pillai who accepted the fact that Ravindrabab’s Centenary starts in 2024 and accepted the invitation to be the Chief Guest for the Road Naming Ceremony at Priol today to mark the beginning of the Centenary of Ravindra Kelekar.
“I urge Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to seek advice from Factually Correct persons and stop making Goof-ups on Dates & Years. I had corrected Dr. Pramod Sawant in the last Assembly Session when he claimed that the Centenary of Manoharbab and Ravindrabab starts in 2025,” pointed out Yuri Alemao.
Alemao said the Government must immediately prepare the Year Long Programme to commemorate the Centenaries of Sardessai and Kelekar.
This should include promoting their Literature in other Languages, organising literary Meets, Publishing their Unpublished Work and also giving them due recognition in the Goa Legislative Assembly Complex, stated Yuri Alemao.
