NAVELIM: Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, recently organized an Inter-Class Social Awareness Competition titled “Heralds of Social Change” at the Navelim Parish Hall. The event aimed to raise awareness among students on pressing social issues and encourage them to use dance and drama as creative mediums to spread messages of change.
In his welcome address, Principal Prof. Helic M. Barretto emphasized the role of youth in building a socially responsible community. Each class performed either a dance or a drama on themes such as Swachh Bharat, Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Plastic-Free Environment, Green Tourism, and Women Empowerment. Students showcased remarkable creativity, dramatization, and strong social messaging, making the event both engaging and thought-provoking.
The performances were judged by Ms. Kimberley Luke Claudina Gomes, lecturer at Vidya Vikas Academy and theatre artist; Ms. Sourabhi A. Sahakari, accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer; and Ms. Kimberley Colaco, journalist specializing in Goan culture and heritage. A total of 15 teams, each comprising 12 students, participated in the competition.
The first place was awarded to T.Y.B.Com. (D & E division), second place went to T.Y.B.A., and third place was secured by T.Y.B.Com. (A, B & C division).
The programme, organized under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Radhika J. Pandey, Asst. Prof. Raisa Cardozo, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Surabhi Gore, concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Kingel Carneiro (F.Y.B.A.). The event was compered by Ms. Sania Fernandes (F.Y.B.Com) and Mr. Anshiko Fernandes (S.Y.B.C.A.).
