CORTALIM: Cortalim Zilla Panchayat (ZP) member Merciana Vas on Tuesday morning inaugurated the construction of an internal road at Prial in Cansaulim. The launch ceremony was attended by Cansaulim Sarpanch Savio Pereira, Ward Councillor Jessica D’Silva, and several local residents.
Speaking to the media, ZP Merciana Vas highlighted that the road construction project, costing Rs 6 lakhs, was a long-awaited demand of the residents. “This stretch of road at Arossim is widely used by the public, and the panchayat members have consistently followed up with me on this issue. I am glad to fulfill this need through the ZP Funds,” she said.
Vas explained that the project had been delayed due to unseasonal rains over the past few months, despite her proposal to start the work before the monsoon. “This is the third internal road project I have launched under ZP Funds, and I am committed to initiating several more works in the coming days,” she added.
Residents expressed their gratitude for the development, emphasizing the importance of the road for daily commuting. The project is expected to improve connectivity and provide relief to the residents of the area.
Sarpanch Savio Pereira lauded the efforts of Merciana Vas, saying, “The coordination between the ZP and panchayat has brought much-needed progress to our village.”
The internal road project is part of a series of development initiatives led by Merciana Vas to enhance infrastructure and address the needs of the Cortalim constituency.
