PANAJI: In a major narcotic raid by the Anti – Narcotic Cell of the Goa Police, the ANC have arrested 2 youths for being in possession of 15 kgs of consignment of Ganja. In doing so the ANC have managed to bust the 2nd interstate Ganja network.
The ANC had received a tip off that a large consignment of Ganja is being delivered in an around Panjim area. Acting swiftly upon the information the ANC started maintaining close surveillance through technical and human intelligence.
The ANC further successfully managed to lay a trap and apprehended on Branzil Kadam, 28 years during the late evening hours of Sunday who during the search was found in possession of a staggering 15 kgs of Ganja worth Rs. 15 lakhs. The ANC have also arrested one Debbatta Nayak, 30, a native of Orissa who was accompanying the other accused.
During the initial interrogation of the local accused, it is revealed that he imports such huge consignment of Ganja using his inter state connections and further distributes them to small time peddlers on commission basis for further sale to addicts and prospective customers in Margao and Vasco areas especially to students and migrant youths.
It may be recalled that the ANC had similarly another interstate Ganja smuggling racket between Jharkhand & Goa in which one Goan supplier and 02 Jharkhand native transporters were arrested with 13 kgs Ganja. The ANC also further arrested the main supplier of Ganja to Goa from Jharkhand with the help of their Police counter parts in Jharkhand. The ANC are also investigating the linkages in last nights raid where such huge quantity of Ganja is seized.
The raid was led and conducted by PSI Manjunath Naik, HCs – Eustaquio Fernandes, Pramod Kalangutkar, PCs Godish Goltekar, Sairaj Naik, Atish Shetkar and Police Driver Kundan Patekar under the supervision of PI ANC Sajith Pillai. The entire raid was closely monitored by DySP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque and under the leadership and guidance of SP (ANC) Tikam Singh Verma, IPS.
