New Delhi: India has condemned Pakistan’s continued aggression, with the Pakistani military targeting civilian areas, including medical facilities and a school, during recent attacks along the western frontier. The escalation follows the deadly Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians and prompted India to carry out retaliatory strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir as part of Operation Sindoor.
At a special media briefing on Saturday, senior Indian defence officials, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, provided details on Pakistan’s provocative actions and India’s response.
“Pakistan’s military continued provocations along the western border, using multiple threat vectors such as U-CAV drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and fighter aircraft to target both civilian and military infrastructure,” Wing Commander Singh explained. “They also resorted to air intrusions using drones and heavy-calibre weapon fire along the Line of Control.”
Singh condemned the targeting of civilian infrastructure, highlighting the attack on a medical centre and a school at Indian Air Force bases in Srinagar, Awantipore, and Udhampur. “In a deplorable and cowardly act, Pakistan targeted medical centres and school premises, showing a complete disregard for the safety of civilians,” Singh said, emphasizing the irresponsible nature of the attacks.
India’s Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam attack, has seen Indian forces strike key terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The Indian government reiterated its commitment to protecting its citizens and maintaining a strong stance against Pakistan’s aggressive actions.
India has called for responsible conduct in the region, while ensuring its military remains prepared for any further escalation.
