PONDA: The youths desiring to bring village development are facing a tough challenge from established politicians, who are fielding their supporters in Panchayat Elections.
There is now a big question before new aspirants: if the same politicians and supporters interfere in panchayats elections, how will new politicians grow.
By doing this, some politicians are trying to bring in a family Raj.
There have been disappointments among budding aspirants who are trying to contest panchayat elections and are pressurised by well-established politicians.
The politicians are looking for a panchayat election as an excellent opportunity to win future assembly elections.
Politicians are trying to elect their panels and strengthen their base in future assembly elections.
However, though this has shattered the dreams of some aspirants still, many of the aspirants have shown a high spirit (Josh) to fight elections.
The political pressure/interference is disappointing the new aspirants.
Not only do politicians ring voters to vote for their supporters/panel contesting elections, but even some aspirants were asked/ pressurised to withdraw their nominations.
Some politicians even offered jobs for withdrawing from the contest.
With the interference of politicians, the new aspirants are questioning whether this Panchayat election is fought on party lines? Or is this assembly election?
In Ponda, some politicians who contested assembly elections last time and lost were seen openly accompanying their supporters during filing nominations and even formed panels in Panchayat Election.
Thus local bodies are fully dominated by polticians though they are expected to work independently.
