Ponda: The All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, hosted by Ponda TT Sports Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association at the Ponda Sports Complex, delivered a thrilling day of upsets and rivalries as the finalists for the U11 Boys and U13 Girls singles categories were decided.
In the U11 Boys singles, familiar foes Ishaan Colaso and Ashank Dalvi are all set to face off in a highly anticipated title clash. Top seed Ishaan showcased clinical form, easing past Kavin Hasija 3-0 in the quarterfinals and repeating the scoreline against Aarish Shaikh in the semifinals. On the other side of the draw, Ashank was equally dominant, blanking Kabir Dixit 3-0 in the quarters and overpowering Shreysht Rane with another 3-0 win in the semis.
Earlier in the tournament, Aarish Shaikh pulled off a notable upset, defeating third seed Kedar Nair in straight sets, while Shreysht came through a tense five-setter to edge out Vivaan Sasmal in the quarters.
The U13 Girls singles category saw major upsets as two unseeded players stormed their way into the finals, toppling higher-ranked opponents. Tisha Shaikh produced a spirited performance, overcoming Gianna George 3-2 in the quarterfinals and then pulling off the shock of the day by eliminating top seed Aayushi Amonkar in a thrilling 3-2 semifinal battle.
On the other half, Sachi Desai continued her dream run with a commanding 3-0 win over Inara D’Souza in the quarters, followed by a dramatic 3-2 victory over second seed Aarna Lotlikar in the semifinals.
Earlier quarterfinal action saw Aayushi Amonkar scrape past Kavyaa Khalap 3-2 in a nail-biting encounter, while Aarna Lotlikar also had to dig deep to overcome Samaira Verlekar in another tense 3-2 match.
The tournament continues to highlight Goa’s rising young table tennis talent, with the finals promising intense battles and plenty of excitement.
