PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant restated that people’s perceptions of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) courses have changed, with people now considering them to be better and more career-focused than graduation programs.
In the past, no parent desired for their child to enroll in ITI courses. It was regarded as the “last grade.” ITI pass-outs have 100% placement, while graduates face high unemployment rates.”
He went on to say that even after completing higher secondary education, ITI candidates are not guaranteed a direct job placement.
“There isn’t a direct placement available following higher secondary, but we have partnerships with corporations and industry associations throughout the State. We have guaranteed 100% placement from Pernem to Canacona. Additionally, recruiters choose applicants for apprenticeships directly,” he said.
“There’s no reason to stay jobless right now. It is advisable for ITI students to acquire experience in the private sector, even if they are currently waiting for a government job. There might be more lucrative options there than in government service. Goa offers a lot of opportunities,” the CM continued.
Sawant also emphasized the importance of skill development in order to transform Goa into Atma Nirbhar and to maximize the use of human resources. He also praised the ITIs for obtaining ISO certification, which is a first for any Indian State to have achieved for all of its ITIs
