CANACONA: Canacona’s long-awaited Ravindra Bhavan is finally going to be inaugurated on Tuesday, completed after 12 years of laying its foundation stone and taking 7 long years to complete since the actual works began in 2017 making it ‘a dream-come-true to many Canconcar’s.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with Arts & Culture Minister Govind Gaude will be inaugurating Ravindra Bhavan at Chaudi-Canacona in the presence of GLA Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday morning. Science & Technology Minister Alexio Sequiera, MLA & GSIDC Chairman Kedar Naik, CMC Chairperson Sara S. Naik Desai, Arts & Culture Secretary Swetika Sachan and Director Sagun R Velip.
The inaugural program will be followed by a series of cultural extravaganza for 5-days including Dramas (Nataks and Tiatr), Folk Dances, and Classical Music scheduled until 31st Aug 2024.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar stated it should be a grand opening of Canacona Ravindra Bhavan, informed that as part of the ambitious Canacona Vision and Mission plan, Ravindra Bhavan at Canacona is completed after 7 years of its commencement of works.
“We invite the people of Canacona to come for the inauguration in large numbers as we are getting a proper and modern auditorium for conducting our cultural activities, of which Canacona is traditionally rich. It (Ravindra Bhavan) will certainly improve Canacona’s image in the eyes of the cultural world’.
Tawadkar then went on to narrate the 5-days cultural program beginning with Natasmrat (Drama) by Upednra Date on Tuesday evening (7 pm). On Wednesday morning School students will compete in Pathanatya from 10. am and evening at 7 pm Durgasur Vadh by Director Vyankatray Naik will be held. On Thursday (29th) morning (10 am) Competition of Folk Dances of Canacona will be held, at 2.30 a Musical Programme, and by 7 pm, POravin Gaonkar will present a Classical Music Programme.
The competition of Folk Dances of Canacona will be held on Friday at 10 am, while Girgirem a Tiatr by Roseferns will be presented in the main auditorium at 7 pm
On Saturday, (31st Aug) again Folk Dances of Canacona competition will be organised at 10 am, and at 7 pm ‘Toh Mi Navhech (Drama) by Director Jayandranath Haldankar will be staged in the main auditorium.
Answering a specific query Speaker Tawadkar informed that all Canconcars are invited for the cultural programme, due to limited seating capacity Entry for the Drama/Musical program) scheduled at 7 pm will be first-come-first-serve basis. ‘Canacona’s Ravindra Bhavan is completed at the original estimated costs of 63 Crores, though the works are to the tune of rupees 100 cr’, stated Tawadkar further informing that after completion of inauguration scheduled cultural programs, activities in Ravindra Bhavan will be resumed after a 8 days gap.

CANACONA: Balram Charitable Foundation, Canacona in association with Goa State Biodiversity Board & Directorate of Agriculture, Goa will organise the Rann-Bhaji Festival at the Canacona Ravindra Bhavan complex on Tuesday.
Addressing media Convener (Raan-Bhaji Festival) and Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Ramesh Tawadkar informed that Rann-Bhaji festival will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant simultaneously at the inauguration of Ravindra Bhavan on Tuesday (27th Aug).
Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Minister for Law & Environment Aleidio Sequeira, besides CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, Member Secretary Goa State Bio-Diversity Board Pradeep Sarmokadam, Biodiversity Awardee Chaitram Pawar, Director of Agriculture Sandeep Phaldesai will be present.
Smt Tawadkar informed that 187 groups consisting of a minimum of 5 members each group including 62 Self Help Groups, 10 Anganwadi, 25 Schools, and 40 groups from outside Canacona have confirmed their participation.
Stating the Raan-bhaji festival is a State-level festival, Smt Tawadkar the festival had to be postponed twice from the earlier scheduled 17th, and 24th and now will be held on Tuesday (27th) along with the inauguration of Ravindra Bhavan so that more people can take its benefits.
Smt Tawadkar along with Organising Secretary (Raan Bhaji Festival) Vinay Tubki invited people to come and enjoy not only different Raan –Bhajis (Forest/Wild Vegetables) but also taste its various types of preparations at the Festivals.
‘There will be as many stalls/tables set-up within the Ravindra Bhavan Complex, which people can visit and enjoy the Raan Bhaji ambience from 10 am to 5 pm’, Tubki stated.
Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Ramesh Tawadkar, Dy. Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, BJP State Vice-President Mahesh Naik, BJP Canacona Block General Secretary Dewakar Pagui, Vice President Shaba NaikGaunkar, BMC Shristhal Chairman Vinay Tubki member and well-known compeere Sirish Pai, were present for a press briefing at Government Rest House, Shristhal.
