New Delhi: The T20I leg of South Africa’s tour of India begins tonight at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium, kicking off a five-match series. India and South Africa have already shared honours in the earlier legs, with South Africa sweeping the two-Test series before India clinched the ODI series 2-1.
India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah returns after being rested for the ODIs. The 32-year-old has been in fine form, taking eight wickets in the Test series, including a five-wicket haul.
Bumrah is just one wicket shy of 100 T20I scalps, which would make him the second Indian after Arshdeep Singh to reach the milestone. Achieving it would also crown him as the first Indian bowler to claim 100 wickets in all three international formats, joining an elite group that includes Tim Southee, Shakib Al Hasan, Shaheen Afridi, and Lasith Malinga.
India and South Africa will face off across five T20Is in Cuttack, Mullanpur, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad, with Bumrah aiming to make history as the series gets underway.
