CALANGUTE: Calangute Police has apprehended a person while taking unlawful matka wagers in a public area at Calangute market.
The accused, Raju Turi (32), a native of Bokaro, Jharkhand, and a resident of Naikawado, Calangute, was captured by the Calangute Police close to the Dilkhush Hotel.
Officers investigating a complaint found that Turi was in possession of two gaming slips, two blue carbon papers, a ballpoint pen, and Rs 1,400 in cash. Section 11(2)(a) of the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act, 1976, was the reason for Turi’s arrest.
Later that same evening, he was freed on bond.
