FATORDA: A man originally from Jharkhand has been arrested by Fatorda police for allegedly sexually assaulting two minor sisters, aged 9 and 8, over the past two months.
The accused, identified as Chondula alias Chandu, residing in the Gogol Housing Board area of Fatorda, reportedly assaulted the children on multiple occasions. According to police, the accused lured one of the girls while bringing her home from school and committed the crime in secluded roadside areas. He allegedly threatened the girls with severe consequences to keep them silent.
The incident came to light on Thursday when the girls’ aunt caught the accused in the act of molesting one of the sisters. Upon questioning, both children disclosed the history of abuse, which they said began in March.
Children’s rights activist Auda Viegas responded to the incident by renewing her demand for mandatory child safety measures by labor contractors who employ migrant workers. She emphasized that the recurring lack of protection for children of construction workers must be urgently addressed.
