PONDA: A farm laborer allegedly murdered his brother-in-law, Deepak Tirkey, on Monday night in Codar, Khandepar, in a case that has shocked the local community.
Both the accused and the deceased are originally from Jharkhand and were working together on a local farm.
According to police sources, the two were reportedly under the influence of alcohol when an argument escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in Deepak Tirkey’s death.
The accused, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed, was apprehended shortly after the incident.
A police team from Ponda is conducting further investigations, and the body has been sent for post-mortem at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
Authorities are questioning co-workers and locals to gather more information on the events that led to the alleged murder.
A case of murder has been registered, and police are awaiting the forensic report for further clarity.
