VASCO: A case of cheating has been registered against the owner of a Vasco-based consultancy firm for allegedly duping a Quepem resident of ₹7.28 lakh under the pretext of providing employment abroad.
According to the complaint filed by Mayur Devidas, between July 2024 and November 2024, the accused, identified as Staney Jorge, a resident of New Vaddem, Vasco, and owner of Captain George Consultancy Services, dishonestly promised him a job in the United States on a ship.
Despite not possessing a valid recruitment licence from the Protector of Emigrants, Government of India, the accused allegedly induced the complainant to pay a large sum for the said employment opportunity.
The complainant was later sent to Mexico, where he was detained by immigration authorities and subsequently deported back to India. Realizing he had been deceived, the victim lodged a police complaint.
