BICHOLIM: Stating that the youngsters of Goa choose to chase government jobs rather than aspiring to join the Nation’s Armed Forces, former Indian Army Hawaldar Pramod Pal urged the youth to join the Armed Forces and serve the Nation.
Pal was called upon as the Chief Guest for the formal function organised at the Government Polytechnic Bicholim on Thursday eve of the Republic day celebration.
Sharing several of his army experiences, Pal advised students to use technology wisely. Pal said that misuse of technology, especially the cell phone is the root cause because of which the youth today need to be more focused and make wise use of their time.
Stating that the Armed Forces have many opportunities for technical roles, Pal said, “If students feel that choosing the Army will invite many challenges, then they can opt for joining other forces such as Navy, Air Force which have even more technical job opportunities. Eventually, you are serving the Nation. No matter in which way.”
The formal function was followed by a patriotic run with Tiranga around Mayem village in which staff and students participated. The run was organised in collaboration with Veterans India and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to pay tribute to Veterans of India who spent their lives protecting the Nation along with martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Nation. Officiating Principal Mahesh Dani, in his welcome speech, spoke about the need to improve oneself to perform one’s duties diligently, keeping the larger goal of the Nation’s progress in mind.
Final year student Shruti Varak introduced the Chief Guest, Lecturer Sujitkumar Naik proposed the vote of thanks while Lecturer Pranjal Marathe anchored the function.
