New Delhi: In a significant development in an ongoing espionage case, Jyoti Malhotra, a 33-year-old YouTuber accused of spying for Pakistan, has been remanded to 14-day police custody by the Hisar Police in Haryana. This follows the conclusion of her initial four-day custody period.
Authorities have reportedly recovered metadata from Malhotra’s mobile phone, which they believe could be crucial to the investigation. Officials have stated that the analysis of this data dump may lead them to seek further extension of her custody.
Malhotra was arrested on suspicion of sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence operatives. During the course of the investigation, police seized three mobile phones, a laptop, and several other electronic devices from her possession. Another individual, Harkirat from Kurukshetra, was also summoned for questioning in connection with the case.
Adding to the controversy, a Scottish YouTuber named Callum Mill recently shared a video from his travels in Lahore, Pakistan, where he claimed to have encountered Malhotra in the Anarkali Bazaar. In the video, Malhotra is seen surrounded by at least six armed guards. When asked about her experience in Pakistan, she replied, “It’s great,” before walking away with her entourage.
Mill, who runs the channel Callum Abroad, appeared surprised by the heavy security presence around Malhotra. “She’s the one with all the guys, all the security. I don’t know what the need for all the guns are,” he remarked in the video.
The footage has raised serious questions about the nature of Malhotra’s visits to Pakistan, where she reportedly attended high-profile gatherings involving members of the country’s security and intelligence circles.
Sources allege that Malhotra provided Pakistan with confidential information, including data on Indian power outages during a covert operation dubbed “Operation Sindoor.” Forensic examination of her seized devices is currently underway as the investigation continues.
