PANAJI: Goa’s Kailas Gauns captured the IBC West Zone Super Flyweight professional boxing title with a commanding technical knockout victory at Fight Night 5.0, held at The Riverfront along the Mandovi in Panaji. Competing in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, Gauns produced a dominant display to secure the belt in emphatic fashion.
The event was organised by Susegado Strike under the aegis of the Indian Boxing Council in collaboration with Goa Tourism. Staged in an open air riverside setting, the evening combined a scenic backdrop with high intensity action inside the ring, drawing strong local support.
In the headline bout, Gauns faced Nikhil Raj C K in a West Zone title clash. From the opening round, the Goan boxer dictated the pace with sharp combinations and disciplined movement. As the contest progressed, he increased the pressure, landing clean punches and forcing his opponent onto the defensive. The decisive moment came in the third round when a sustained attacking sequence prompted the referee to halt the contest at 1 minute 45 seconds, awarding Gauns a technical knockout win.
The undercard featured several competitive bouts across weight categories. The light flyweight contest between Akanksha Singh and Nitu Nandu Sutar ended in a majority decision draw after a closely fought encounter. In the middleweight division, F Lathanliana Junior secured a unanimous decision win over Yashraj Goud, while Jaspreet Singh claimed a similar verdict against C Lalhruaitluanga with a controlled performance.
The super middleweight bout saw Sunita Parminder Singh deliver one of the night’s most decisive finishes, stopping Sanjana Shashipal with a knockout in the fourth round. In another super flyweight contest, Vanlalenkawltira registered a unanimous decision victory over Shanborlang Marbaniang.
The championship evening underscored Goa’s growing stature in professional boxing, with strong organisational backing and rising local talent signaling a promising future for the sport in the state.
