Panaji: After achieving a world record for staging the play Ganv Zala Zantto seven times in a single day, Goa’s renowned cultural group Kala Chetana Volvoi is all set to enthrall audiences once again with their latest production — Kanni Novya Yugachi. This new drama introduces a unique theatrical format called ‘Tiyatak’, which creatively combines the musical and humorous elements of Tiyatra with the emotional storytelling of Natak, offering a refreshing take on Goan theatre.
Kanni Novya Yugachi delivers a powerful message centered around the New Education Policy (NEP) through a modern reimagining of the classic fable “The Rabbit and the Tortoise”. Audiences will witness the age-old story evolve in a contemporary setting, highlighting the challenges and transformations in education today. Adding depth to the narrative is the story of twin siblings, each raised with different parenting and schooling methods, prompting viewers to reflect on current educational values and child-rearing practices.
The play is produced and written by Suchita Narvekar, directed by Sushant Nayak, with lyrics by Alias Fernandes and music composed by Shahu Almeida. The stellar cast includes Rajesh Pyarela Lohia, Prasanti Chari, Rock Coelho, Elrich Coelho, Suchita Narvekar, Ramanand Naik, child actress Bhumee Naik Narvekar, and in the lead role, Vasanti fame Rajdeep Naik.
The drama will be staged on 21st June 2025 at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda at 7:30 PM (tickets available at Sushant Agency, Ponda), on 26th June 2025 at Kala Academy, Panaji at 7:30 PM (tickets at the venue counter), and on 28th June 2025 at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim at 7:30 PM (tickets at Pangam Stores, Sanquelim).
