CANACONA: The vibrant Kala Mahotsav 2025 was celebrated at Poinguinim, showcasing Goa’s rich artistic and cultural traditions. The event was jointly organized by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, and the Poinguinim Village Panchayat.
Speaking as the chief guest, Art and Culture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar highlighted the importance of art in building unity and preserving culture. “Art is a powerful medium that connects people, instills values, and guides thoughts. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, it is essential to preserve and promote our folk and traditional arts. Art is both a reflection of tradition and a medium for innovation. Preserving our cultural heritage and passing it on to the next generation is our collective responsibility,” he said, adding that the Kala Mahotsav is “not just an evening of performances but a true celebration of identity, creativity, and pride.”
The festival featured captivating performances by artists from various state-level institutions, including traditional dance, drama, singing, and instrumental music, enthralling the audience.
Earlier, Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar welcomed the gathering. Among those present were Dy. Director of Art & Culture Milind Mate, Deputy Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, Panch Members Satish Painguinkar, Praveer Bhandari, Mahesh Naik, John Barreto, Shilpa Naik Gaonkar, Asmita Joshi, CMC Councillor Hemant Naik Gaonkar, and BJP Canacona Mandal President Prabhakar Gaonkar.
The programme was compered by Prasad Pagi, while Panch Satish Painguinkar proposed the vote of thanks.
