Canacona: In a significant boost to local power infrastructure, Karai-Tamnem under the Loliem-Polem Village Panchayat received a new 200 KVA distribution transformer and a 1-kilometre long Low Tension (LT) line network on Sunday. The development, worth ₹29.52 lakh, is expected to address long-standing issues of low voltage, power cuts, and fluctuating electricity in the border areas of the village.
Speaking at the brief inaugural function, Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar said the new power infrastructure will ensure reliable electricity supply to the villagers. He praised the Electricity Department for completing the project ahead of schedule and lauded Assistant Engineer Govind Bhagat for his proactive role.
Present at the event were Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Nisha Chari, Deputy Sarpanch Pankaj Bandekar, panch members Ajay Lolyenkar, Sachin Naik, and Supriya Pagi. The land for the transformer was donated by Pradeep K. Prabhugaonkar. Also in attendance were BJP senior karyakarta Keshav Pagi, Canacona Electricity Department AE Govind Bhat, JEs Akshay Gaonkar and Dattanand Chari, retired Executive Engineer and OSD to Speaker Santosh Lolyenkar, BJP Canacona Mandal President Prabhakar Gaonkar, General Secretary Sanjeev Tilve, senior citizens, and local youth.
