PANAJI: In a momentous observance coinciding with the 25th anniversary of India’s triumph in the Kargil War, a poignant tribute is poised to unfold as the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in conjunction with Lakshya Foundation-Pune in collaboration with Department of information and Publicity come together to pay homage to the unwavering spirit of Kargil War Heroes.
These gallant individuals, who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation are to be felicitated on Saturday, 9th September’2023 at Bits Pilani Campus, Goa for their unwavering courage, unyielding dedication and resolute commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation.
In attendance will be Minister for Social Welfare, Mr. Subhash Phal Dessai.
Major General Ravindra Singh (SM Bar), Col. Prashant Kamath (SM), Mrs. Anuradha Prabhudesai – Founder President, Lakshya Foundation, Mr. Guruprasad Pawaskar – State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and Taha Haaziq – Secretary Office of the State Commission for Persons with Disabilities. Accompanying the dignitaries will be students representing various schools from across the state, creating a dynamic platform for them to engage with the esteemed Kargil War Heroes.
Minister for Social Welfare, Mr. Subhash Phal Dessai, emphasized, “We are deeply honoured and humbled to felicitate the courageous soldiers who, despite losing their mobility in the Kargil war, continue to serve our nation with unwavering determination and resilience. Their unbreakable spirit and commitment to safeguarding our country are a testament to the indomitable human spirit and the true essence of heroism.”
Mrs. Anuradha Prabhudesai – Founder President, Lakshya Foundation will be hosting a captivating interview with two distinguished invitees and Kargil war heroes Maj. Gen. Ravindra Singh and Col. Prashant Kamath who have left an indelible mark on our nation’s history. Their unwavering courage and sacrifice during one of India’s most challenging times have earned them a place of reverence in our hearts. Through this interview, we aim to shed light on their remarkable journeys, paying tribute to their service and the enduring spirit of our armed forces.
The program will felicitate 9 army veterans Naib Subedar Ramdas Shyamji Pawar (Rtd), Daya Ram (Rtd), Hav. Muni Lal (Rtd), Jogender Singh (Rtd), Hav. Yash Paul (Rtd), Hav. Mehar Singh, HC/GD Janardan Sonawane, Ajitnath Namdev Shirsat and Hav Jaihind Singh will be felicitated on the occasion.
Mr. Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, radiated enthusiasm for this endeavour, stating, “Lakshya Foundation, through its myriad initiatives, casts a spotlight on the sacrifices of our armed forces, motivating citizens to become responsible and conscientious custodians of our nation’s future.
Narratives of bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism should be deeply ingrained within us, and we earnestly hope that future generations will stand tall, bearing witness to and safeguarding the legacy of our beloved nation.”
