Canacona: Canacona police have registered a case against a Karwar resident for allegedly engaging in sexual relations with a woman under the pretense of marriage.
According to authorities, the complainant, whose identity has been withheld, reported that between July 2 and September 26, 2025, Ankit Chauhan, a resident of Karwar, allegedly forced her into sexual intercourse multiple times under the false assurance of marrying her. The complainant stated that when she asked Chauhan to fulfill his promise of marriage, he refused.
The Canacona Police have booked Chauhan under Section 69 of the BNS. Further investigations are being handled by LPSI Anuradha Dessai of Canacona Police Station.
