KARNATAKA: The Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), in partnership with the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), organised a Trade Promotion Meet at Denison’s Hotel in Hubbali Karnataka, bringing together government officials, industry leaders and banking experts to strengthen Karnataka’s export ecosystem.
The programme was inaugurated by MPA chairperson N Vinodkumar, along with VTPC managing director B K Shivakumar, KCCI president G K Adappagoudar and KCCI honorary secretary Uday Revankar. Addressing the gathering, Vinodkumar outlined port-led trade growth strategies and highlighted new infrastructure developments at Mormugao Port aimed at improving cargo handling and export efficiency. Shivakumar detailed government incentives and export promotion initiatives available to exporters from Karnataka.
The meet featured two panel discussions focusing on trade and logistics. The first session, titled North Karnataka’s gateway: Where skills meet global markets, saw deliberations by Vivek Nayak of Ken Agritech, Umesh V of Nidec and former additional director of industries and commerce Veenanna Hawaldar. The panel discussed talent strategies, global partnerships and ways to overcome export-related challenges.
The second panel, Smart ports, smarter trade, included inputs from Jerome Clement, traffic manager at MPT Goa, Anthony Gaskell of Sentranis Shipping, and Raghoba Kotkar, vice-president and unit head of Delta Ports Mormugao Terminal. Moderated by Uday Revankar, the discussion focused on digital transformation, supply chain transparency, sustainability and cybersecurity in port operations.
Kotkar also spoke on enhancements in port connectivity and multimodal logistics, emphasising the role of private sector participation in improving national trade efficiency. ICICI Bank regional head Brinda Ammanavar presented innovative trade finance solutions and export credit facilities designed for MSMEs.
Over 80 exporters participated in the meet, which concluded with networking sessions aimed at fostering collaboration among exporters, port operators, financial institutions and government agencies. The initiative reinforced North Karnataka’s position as a strategic gateway for international trade through Mormugao Port.
