Canacona: The bidding process for the four-laning of NH-66 from Benordem (Quepem) to the start of Canacona Bypass (Char Rasta), and from the end of the Bypass (Maxem) to Polem, was opened on Monday, with Kaluwala Construction Private Limited (KCPL) emerging as the lowest bidder. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had floated the tender for the 22.10 km stretch under the Hybrid Annuity Mode, with an estimated project cost of ₹952.23 crore. KCPL quoted ₹594.18 crore — 37.60% below the estimated cost — to top the list of 22 participating companies.
KCPL narrowly outbid infrastructure major Dilip Buildcon Limited, which quoted ₹635.55 crore at 33.26% below the estimate, trailing KCPL by 4.34 percentage points. Other close contenders included Ram Kumar Contractor Pvt. Ltd (-32.26%), Barbrik Project Limited (-31.59%), and PSK Infrastructures and Projects Pvt. Ltd (-30.42%), all of whom quoted in the -30% range. Six more companies submitted bids in the -20% range, while another seven companies quoted between -10% and -18.30%.
Four firms submitted bids with single-digit negative percentages, including M. Venkata Rao Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd at -7.38%, and H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd, which had the least reduced bid of -0.96%, quoting ₹943.11 crore. The project is expected to significantly improve traffic movement and road safety along Goa’s southern highway corridor.
