PANAJI: BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, said that Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, was arrested through the appropriate channels and that the arrest was unrelated to the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters, Tanavade said, “The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has demonstrated that there is law in the nation by apprehending Arvind Kejriwal.” The laws apply to everyone, regardless of status or influence,”
He further said that eight summonses were served to Kejriwal, but he disregarded them. He ought to have complied with it by showing up to court. After the Delhi High Court declined to grant him protection, he was taken into custody.”
“A chief minister has been arrested before. This is not the first time. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) called the late Manohar Parrikar in 2005, during the UPA government’s tenure at the Center, regarding the purported International Film Festival of India (IFFI) scam, but he later came clean,” he added
Tanavade said that Parrikar and his attorneys made an appearance at the CBI Court. The incident on Thursday has demonstrated that laws exist in the nation.
“Kejriwal ought to have responded to the summons when he received it,” Tanavade stated.
In response to a question, Tanavade stated that it is incorrect to link the incident to the Lok Sabha elections because Kejriwal was arrested after the Enforcement Directorate had served summonses eight times.
“Political parties are the target of the election, not the Enforcement Directorate.” he added
