VASCO: Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya 2 took to the streets on Saturday morning to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS through a rally and impactful street plays. The event, held ahead of World AIDS Day, aimed to educate the public about the disease and emphasize prevention and support.
Carrying placards and chanting slogans, the students marched through the surrounding areas. They also performed street plays at various locations, drawing attention to the cause and engaging with the public. The rally saw active participation from the school’s principal, teachers, and staff, who marched alongside the students.
Speaking to the media, Sheeba K.M., the school’s Biology teacher and event coordinator, explained the significance of the program. “We are commemorating World AIDS Day, which falls on December 1. Since it’s a Sunday and a school holiday, we decided to hold the event today. The program received tremendous support from the principal, staff, and Goa AIDS Control Society. Our school has been participating in these awareness drives since 2015, and our mission is to help eliminate HIV/AIDS from society,” Sheeba said.
Principal Narendra Singh Rathore praised the students’ enthusiasm for the initiative. “Our students participate with great zeal every year. The rally, featuring red ribbons and placards, highlights the dangers of HIV/AIDS and spreads the message of awareness. With the support of the Goa AIDS Control Society, we distribute red ribbons, conduct street plays, and encourage students to convey a strong message to the public. The society motivates students by awarding certificates and prizes, which further boosts their involvement,” Rathore added.
” This initiative reflects the commitment of Kendriya Vidyalaya 2 and its students to promoting health awareness and contributing to the global fight against HIV/AIDS.” Said Rathore
The initiative drew appreciation from locals, who commended the students for their dedication and creativity in addressing such an important issue. As part of the event, the students also distributed educational materials to ensure the message reached a wider audience.
