New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala are not only about changing the government but about securing a stronger future for the state.
Addressing a public gathering in the Kunnathunadu constituency, Shah stated that the vote share of the National Democratic Alliance has steadily increased in Kerala since the 2014 Indian general election. He expressed confidence that the growing support for the alliance indicates the time has come for a government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state.
During his speech, Shah extended greetings to the Christian community on the occasion of Easter and appealed to them to support the NDA in the upcoming polls. He emphasised that the alliance stands for equal justice for all citizens while rejecting the politics of appeasement.
The Home Minister also criticised the state government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He alleged that the administration often renames projects funded by the central government in order to claim credit for them. Shah described this as a trend where centrally supported schemes are presented as state initiatives by simply altering their names.
Highlighting the importance of the upcoming election, Shah said the vote would determine the direction of Kerala’s development and governance in the coming years. According to him, the NDA is seeking a mandate that would allow it to introduce policies aimed at strengthening the state’s growth and opportunities.
The assembly elections in Kerala are scheduled to be held on April 9, with political parties intensifying their campaigns across the state in the final days before voting. The outcome will decide whether the current administration continues in power or if voters choose a different political direction for the state.
