MARGAO: As we conclude India’s most coveted football season, the Hero Indian Super League, KFC announced Abhijith A. as the winner of KFC Street Football – a unique platform for young football enthusiasts across the country to showcase their freestyle skills to millions of viewers. In December 2022, India’s fav brand of crispy chicken announced an iconic partnership with the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) for the 2022-23 season.
KFC in partnership with Hero Indian Super League scouted for football enthusiasts with some cool freestyle moves across 5 cities – Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata & Kochi.
At the Hero ISL finals in Goa the 5 finalists: Abhishek Jovan, Sabari, Rocky Khan, Abhijith Nair and Abhijith A. were given the opportunity to perform one last time in front of football fans from across the nation and an esteemed panel of judges.
The five finalists were shortlisted through a competitive selection process through the season that assessed their freestyle skills showcased through both, their social media entries, and their performance in the challenges presented at the KFC selection zone during Hero ISL matches.
Abhijith A was awarded the much-coveted trophy from KFC India and Hero ISL at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Fatorda Stadium) in Goa. He was felicitated by Pradeep Ramakrishnan, Chief Technology Officer, KFC India.
