Canada:
Devotees were attacked at a Hindu temple in Canada’s Brampton by a group of people allegedly Khalistani extremists on Sunday.
In the videos which are doing rounds on social media, a group of men holding Khalistani flags can be seen thrashing people with sticks outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir.
Canada PM Justin Trudeau condemned “acts of violence” at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton and said it is unacceptable.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said that he will be bringing a motion to the City Council which would look at prohibiting protests at places of worship. “Places of worship should safe spaces that are free of violence and intimidation. I have asked our City solicitor to look into the legality of such a by-law for our next scheduled meeting of City Council,” he wrote on X.
‘Red Line Crossed By Khalistani Extremists’
Condemned the violence, Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya said that a “red line has been crossed” by Khalistani extremists.
Shared a video of the incident on X, Arya wrote, “A red line has been crossed by Canadian Khalistani extremists today. The attack by Khalistanis on the Hindu-Canadian devotees inside the premises of the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton shows how deep and brazen has Khalistani violent extremism has become in Canada.”
He added, “I begin to feel that there is a small grain of truth in the reports that in addition to Canadian political apparatus, Khalistanis have effectively infiltrated into our law enforcement agencies.”
The Canadian Member of Parliament further expressed concerns that Khalistani extremists are getting a free pass in Canada under the freedom of expression.
“As I have been saying for long, Hindu-Canadians, for the security and safety of our community, need to step up and assert their rights and hold politicians accountable,” Arya wrote.
Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre condemned the attack on the Hindu Sabha temple by Khalistani extremists. He said emphasised that all Canadians should be able to practice their faith in peace.
