PONDA: Khandepar locals fear flooding of Khandepar river in monsoon due to landfilling at the low-lying areas, at Kerya Khandepar alongside the bank of nullah by one Margao-based construction company.
Locals have demanded immediate action from authorities against Margao-based construction company to save Khandepar villagers from flooding in the monsoon.
Local Rocky Dias has filed a complaint with Panchayat and concerned authorities.
He said based on his complaint, local Curti Khandepar Panchayat had inspected the site; however, strict action needs to be taken by Panchayat and TCP considering the flood-like situation that occurs in monsoon.
The deputy collector for South Goa District has issued a stop-work order in this connection.
In its show-cause cum stop-work order notice, the Deputy Collector pointed out that no board was displayed at the site displaying the permission from TCP, nor any document permission was made available at the site, and thus it is a violation of the TCP Act directed to stop the work.
