PANAJI: The second day of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Women’s Championship 2025 to 26 featured two competitive encounters at the Cricket Ground of Dayanand Bandodkar Krida Sankool in Peddem, Mapusa, with Government College Khandola and Shree Damodar College, Margao securing convincing victories.
In the opening match of the day, Government College Khandola defeated Rosary College, Navelim by nine wickets after a disciplined bowling performance followed by a quick run chase. Rosary College won the toss and chose to bat first but managed only 58 for five in their allotted 10 overs. Ria Pinto led the batting effort with 21 runs from 20 balls, while Mamta Kumari added nine runs. The Khandola bowling unit maintained tight control, with Sanisha Gaude delivering an impressive spell to claim two wickets for six runs. Sanket Palkar also contributed effectively with two wickets for nine runs.
Chasing a modest target, Government College Khandola reached 59 for one in just 5.3 overs. Deevita Palkar anchored the chase with a steady 15 runs, while Falguni Gaonkar added nine runs. Antara Assolkar picked up the lone wicket for Rosary College. Deevita Palkar was recognised as the best batter of the match, while Sanisha Gaude earned the honour of best bowler for her impactful performance.
The second match saw Shree Damodar College, Margao register a 19 run victory over Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao. After winning the toss, Shree Damodar College opted to bat and posted a strong total of 124 for three in 10 overs. Tamanna Shaikh and Ishika Nayar both played key roles, scoring 30 runs each to provide a solid foundation for their team. Pranita was the standout bowler for Chowgule College, claiming two wickets for 22 runs.
In reply, Parvatibai Chowgule College finished at 105 for two in their 10 overs. Sanchita Sail delivered a remarkable innings of 68 runs from 39 balls, though it was not enough to secure victory for her side. Eshwari Borkar led the bowling effort for Shree Damodar College with figures of two wickets for eight runs. Despite being on the losing side, Sanchita Sail was named Player of the Match for her outstanding batting display.
The tournament continues on March 25 with St Xavier College, Mapusa facing Don Bosco College, Panjim at 9.30 am, followed by Sridora Caculo College, Mapusa taking on PG Goa University at 1.30 pm.
