PANAJI: A day after rejecting rumours of joining BJP, Porvorim’s independent MLA Rohan Khaunte has now confused teh people with his tweet, “indicating he wants to be part of governance”.
He said that being part of Governance helps the constituency’s development, and that would be his strategy for forthcoming elections.
“Being a part of Governance always facilitates #Development of the constituency, and my strategy for upcoming elections will be based on this thread in consultation with my people,” he said.
On Friday, Khaunte had he would not join Congress but contest as an Independent MLA in the coming assembly elections.
However, his new statement puts a question mark whether he wants to contest independent or not.
Yesterday, Khuante questioned the preparedness of Congress for the polls while other parties have taken their stance already. His supporters also quit Congress en masse a little while before his announcements.
He said that Congress does not have any significant presence in Porvorim. He also said that other parties are marching ahead while Congress is still stuck.
Khaunte’s supporters lost their patience and quit Congress as the party did not appoint Gupesh Naik, a former Zilla panchayat member, as the president of block Congress.
Rohan said that the party has been dallying on the issue of appointing president for the Porvorim block for a month, and it is nowhere near winning the elections.
“Congress is relying on press conferences and protests to win the upcoming elections rather than appointing faithful workers of the party to vital positions,” said Rohan Khaunte.
Meanwhile, Khaunte brother Rajesh said in a tweet, “Resignations from Congress by our team -Good decision was taken – Congress selected blocks for other 39 constituencies in Goa and wanted elections for Porvorim block ??? #INC – do u have a base in Porvorim ???? Enough of humiliation – We love being INDEPENDENT”.
