PORVORIM: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte today has requested the state government for a change in its COVID protocol strategy to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
Khaunte said that the second COVID wave is already hitting Goa.
“Strategy change is required and much needs to be done on a war-footing to prevent further suffering and deaths from the pandemnic’s second wave,” said Khaunte
He further said that our neighbouring states of Karnataka and Maharashtra have imposed stringent measures and night curfews and it’s time for Go Government to act similarly along with making COVID Negative Centifiention mandatory for entering Goans.
“Tourism and Casino have been the welcome units of this novel virus into our State, likely to create a domino effect of the spread. A learning example of the unguarded COVID spread is when 31 staff members of an offshore casino tested positive for the novel virus.” he added
Speaking on vaccination drive Khaunte said that Vaccination Drive needs to be ramped up with awareness campaigns to ensure wider vaccine coverage Public mindset needs to be reoriented towards following cOVID protocols even after inoculation. All this calls for vigorous campaigning by the Government machinery
“Identification of the variant COVID strains with the assistance of agencies also holds the key to our success against the virus as it will enable us to counter it more effectively,” Khaunte said
Meanwhile, he sudden increase in fresh cases is seriously frightening for our son all state.
“Our beds and medical facilities along with the staff are already stretched out and Goa cannot afford any further delays to rethink the situation,” he added
