CANACONA: A delegation from Khola village, led by Sarpanch Smt. Pradnya Gautam Kamat, submitted a charter of demands to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Kamat on Saturday, urging urgent government attention to long-pending issues despite Khola being one of the few villages in Goa adopted under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
The delegation, comprising Prashant Kholkar, Jairam Pagi, Eknath Pagi, and Gautam Kamat, met the Chief Minister at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali. Their demands included immediate installation of a mobile tower at Matvemol to resolve poor connectivity, reconstruction of the dilapidated Saleri bridge connecting Khola and Agonda, construction of a crematorium in the village, water filters at every plant, urgent repair of the Kajumol water tank, extension of the water pipeline at Matvemol, crash barriers at seven sharp curves, road signage at key points, provision of free WiFi, and resumption of KTC bus services from Khola to Margao.
The delegation thanked the CM for earlier resolving the Kudai–Kajumol main water pipeline issue within six months of their appeal but stressed that several crucial demands remain pending.
Khola, adopted as a model village under SAGY in November 2014 by then South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, was promised “a sea change within a year.” Committees were formed to address development needs, but villagers say progress has stalled. Even after repeated inspections and representations, key issues such as road safety, water security, and digital connectivity remain unresolved.
Residents say the village, despite its SAGY status, continues to struggle for basic necessities and hope that the latest intervention with the Chief Minister will finally bring tangible results.
