CANCA: A kidnapping attempt involving a 6-year-old girl was successfully thwarted on Thursday night in Khalap-vaddo, Canca, thanks to the quick action of nearby residents. The incident unfolded around 9:45 PM along the busy Mapusa-Calangute road. Eyewitnesses reported that an unidentified man snatched the child from outside her third-floor apartment and was seen carrying her down, holding her on his shoulder.
The girl’s cries for help caught the attention of locals, who immediately raised the alarm. Startled by the commotion, the suspect dropped the girl and fled the scene on foot.
The building, equipped with CCTV cameras, captured the entire event, and authorities believe the footage will assist in identifying the suspect. Mapusa Police have responded promptly and are actively investigating the matter.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they continue their search for the perpetrator.
