CORTALIM: Goa A 57-year-old lady Rosa Maria Fernandes, a resident of Lotoulim, was killed in a road mishap on Monday after being hit by a speeding car near Cortalim junction.
According to information from sources, a lady Femila Dias (50), a resident of Chinchinim drove her Maruti Suzuki Nexa Ignis car ( GA08 AA 2333 ) in a rash & negligent manner while travelling from Panaji to Margao side.
“When she reached Cortalim Junction, she gave a dash to the deceased pedestrian lady who was crossing the road and further gave a dash to another grey colour Grand Hyundai i10 car (GA 08 R 1092 ) which was proceeding from Panjim side towards Margao side and one parked black colour Bajaj Avenger motorcycle ( MH 12 MZ 1282 ) on the side of NH66 highway at Cortalim Junction. As a result of the accident, the deceased pedestrian lady Maria Rosa Fernandes sustained serious injuries and further succumbed to the said injuries while undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim,” said the source.
Verna police have registered an offence
under section 279, 304-A IPC and PSI
