Panaji: In a delightful celebration, the Kingfisher Christmas Tree has returned to Garcia De Orta in Panaji, infusing the locals with festive joy for the third consecutive year.
This year’s Kingfisher Christmas Tree, standing tall at 36 feet, graces the heart of the capital city, making it arguably the largest Christmas tree across Goa. Crafted in collaboration with Greg Furtado, this annual tradition continues to captivate the spirit of the season.
The grand inauguration of the tree saw the esteemed presence of Rohit Monsarrate, the Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji. Mayor Monsarrate commended Greg Furtado for his significant contribution to fostering the festive spirit in Panaji.
The ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree was performed by Mayor Monsarrate, accompanied by the warm welcome of Santa Claus. The illuminated spectacle was followed by a mesmerizing brass band performance, filling the air with enchanting Christmas carols. Attendees were adorned with Christmas hats and treated to sweets, enhancing the joyful atmosphere.
Expressing gratitude, Greg Furtado stated, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to Kingfisher for their steadfast support in this annual Christmas tree tradition, enriching the festive celebrations for three consecutive years. Special appreciation to Mayor Monsarrate for their unwavering support.”
Adding to the merriment, a cycle rally featuring 35 Santas commenced from the Panjim Municipal Garden, weaving through the city and spreading holiday cheer throughout.
