PANAJI: The 19th edition of the much-anticipated Konkan Fruit Fest 2025 is set to take place from May 2nd to 4th, 2025, at the Rosary High School Ground in Navelim, Salcete. Organized by the Botanical Society of Goa in collaboration with Our Lady of Rosary Church Navelim, the event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. The Directorate of Agriculture, Goa College of Agriculture, Forest Department, and other government agencies are supporting the festival.
The Konkan Fruit Fest aims to celebrate and promote the local fruits of Goa and the Konkan region. Visitors can expect a vibrant display of fresh fruits, nursery plants, processed fruit products, manures, and agricultural essentials available for purchase from individual vendors and private companies. The event offers an excellent opportunity to explore the agricultural diversity of the region while supporting local farmers and artisans.
The festival will kick off on Friday, May 2nd, with the receipt of fresh fruit entries, including mangoes, chickoos, cashews, carambola, love apples, jackfruit, pineapples, papayas, and berries. Additionally, the Best Honey Competition will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participants can submit their entries with no entry fees, and the competition is open to all. Entries will be evaluated by a panel of experts from the field of agriculture, with three winners selected from each category. Winners will receive cash prizes and certificates in the evening. The festival’s inaugural ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m., followed by a fancy dress competition for children at 6:00 p.m.
On Saturday, May 3rd, the festival will continue with entries for processed fruit products such as juices, squashes, wines, jams, pickles, cakes, chutneys, soufflés, and jellies, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On Sunday, May 4th, there will be a Drawing Competition for children, along with fun spot activities like the Fruit Eating Competition and Guess the Fruit Weight contest. A free Bonsai Demonstration by Daniel D’Souza will also take place at 11:00 a.m., showcasing the art of Bonsai cultivation. The festival will conclude with the Prize Distribution ceremony for the 33rd Annual Home Garden Competition at 4:00 p.m.
Vendors looking to showcase their products, including plants, fruits, juices, homemade goods, and anything related to gardening and agriculture, can book stalls or table space for the event.
The Konkan Fruit Fest promises to be an exciting, family-friendly celebration of Goa’s rich agricultural traditions and a platform for local talent to shine.
