MARGAO: Konkan Railway has collected over ₹2.37 crore in fines this financial year by penalizing 40,602 ticketless and irregular travellers, as part of intensified ticket checking drives along its route.
Since the beginning of the financial year 2025–26, KRCL has conducted 3,765 ticket checking operations to ensure smooth travel for authorized passengers and discourage ticketless travel.
With the Ganpati Festival approaching, passenger traffic on the Konkan Railway route is expected to rise significantly. KRCL has urged all passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid fines and inconvenience.
“KRCL will continue intensified ticket checks across its entire route, particularly during the festive season, to ensure safe and comfortable journeys for all authorized passengers,” a spokesperson said.
KRCL has also urged passengers to cooperate with ticket checking staff and purchase valid tickets in advance to avoid last-minute hassles and penalties.
