Margao: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) carried out its annual pre-monsoon inspection across the Konkan Railway route to review preparedness and assess the readiness of infrastructure and safety systems ahead of the upcoming rainy season.
The inspection was led by Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of KRCL, along with directors and senior officials from various departments. The team reviewed vulnerable locations, ongoing maintenance works and safety arrangements to ensure safe and reliable train operations during the monsoon months.
The Madgaon (MAO) to Thokur (TOK) section was inspected on March 10, 2026, followed by the inspection of the Madgaon (MAO) to Roha (ROH) section on March 11, 2026.
During the inspection, officials conducted a detailed review of tracks, bridges, tunnels, cuttings, slopes, signalling systems, water-logging prone areas, station infrastructure and solar lighting installations along the route.
Authorities also examined vulnerable points and ongoing maintenance works while assessing safety measures in place to ensure the railway network remains fully prepared ahead of the monsoon season.
The inspection also allowed officials to carry out on-site assessments of preventive measures being undertaken to maintain safe and reliable train operations during the rainy months.
Konkan Railway officials said such annual inspections form a crucial part of the organisation’s proactive approach to strengthening safety measures and ensuring monsoon preparedness, particularly as the railway line passes through challenging terrain and regions prone to heavy rainfall.
The information was shared in a press release issued by Sunil B. Narkar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Konkan Railway.
