MARGAO: Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has intensified its ticket inspection drives, detecting thousands of cases of unauthorized or irregular travel and collecting substantial penalties during February 2026.
According to a press release issued by KRCL, a total of 873 ticket checking drives were conducted in February along with routine ticket inspections. During these drives, 41,522 cases of unauthorized or irregular travellers were detected, and a total of ₹2.41 crore was recovered towards railway fare and penalties.
Cumulatively, during the financial year 2025–26 up to February 2026, Konkan Railway carried out 10,368 special ticket checking drives. These drives resulted in the detection of 4,54,849 cases of unauthorized or irregular travellers, with a total recovery of ₹25.21 crore as fare and penalties.
Konkan Railway has appealed to passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience during their journey.
The railway authorities also stated that intensified ticket-checking drives will continue during the upcoming festival season across the entire Konkan Railway route. These drives will be conducted in coordination with Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and railway officials to ensure safe, secure and comfortable travel for genuine passengers.
