Margao: Konkan Railway Police have solved five cases of theft involving passengers’ belongings on running trains, recovering stolen property valued at ₹12,57,085.
Following multiple complaints, a special team comprising Konkan Railway Police staff and Railway Protection Force personnel from Margao intensified patrolling and used technical surveillance and credible sources to track down suspects.
Police arrested Shirsha Shirshant alias Shashikant Rathod (29) of Zuarinagar, Mormugao, for his alleged involvement in the thefts along the Konkan Railway route. Officers recovered gold ornaments weighing 114.43 grams worth ₹10,87,085 from him and froze a bank account holding ₹1,70,000, believed to be proceeds from the crimes.
Efforts are ongoing to trace a co-accused, whose name has been withheld, and recover the remaining stolen property. The operation was conducted under the supervision of PI Konkan Railway PS, DYSP Konkan Railway, and SP Konkan Railway.
