MARGAO: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Konkan Railway undertook a series of security, rescue and crime-control initiatives over the past year, resulting in the recovery of stolen goods, rescue of vulnerable children and arrests in multiple offences, officials confirmed.
Under Operation Amanat, RPF teams traced and safely returned lost and stolen belongings belonging to 252 railway passengers. The recovered property was estimated to be worth Rs 122.48 lakh.
In another key humanitarian initiative, Operation Nanhe Farishte, the RPF rescued 98 minor children found in distress or unsafe circumstances on railway premises. The children were subsequently handed over to the Child Helpline for protection, counselling and rehabilitation.
As part of its crackdown on illegal activities, Operation Satark led to the seizure of 6,877 bottles of illicit liquor valued at Rs 10.71 lakh. During the operation, 65 individuals involved in bootlegging were taken into custody.
The RPF also registered 192 cases under the ACP category, resulting in the arrest and prosecution of 222 persons under Section 141 of the Railway Act for unauthorised activities on railway property.
Additionally, under the Jeevan Raksha initiative, RPF personnel successfully saved the lives of four passengers in critical situations. In separate actions against theft, 40 suspects involved in luggage-related crimes were arrested, and stolen articles worth Rs 48.67 lakh were recovered.
Officials said the sustained operations highlight the RPF’s commitment to passenger safety, security of railway property and humanitarian assistance across the Konkan Railway network.
