While Devanagari and Romi were the official scripts for our contest we received 7 Konkani Lyrics also in Kannada-script from an enthusiastic, senior participant based in Mangalore, Karnataka!
With the Stage 1 (Entry Submission) completed, now the contest is in Stage 2 (Shortlist & Public Scrutiny) wherein the “Public Scrutiny” part, aimed at checking for any potential “Copyright violations,” has been supplemented with “Appreciation & Celebration” for which each of the 134 submitted Konkani Lyrics have been published on social media in our specially designed posters since the effort and love for Konkani that our enthusiastic participants have put into their Konkani Lyrics rightly deserves it! The “Shortlist”, based on compliance of entries with the contest rules, has been done and notified to the affected participants. As a result, 117 of the 134 entries are now headed into Stage 3 (Final Evaluation) with the participants presently recording and submitting “Lyrics Demo Audio” to demonstrate their intended “Meter, Timing and Pronunciation Style” for each of their shortlisted entries. Stage 3, being the most detailed evaluation, is expected to last the entire month of October during which multiple qualitative evaluation rounds will filter the entries down to the Top20 using parameters such as Meter, Timing, Rhyme, Ease of Singing & Catchiness, Konkani Diversity (ie. more dialects used = more points!), Konkani Innovation (ie. creating new words/sounds in Konkani, Konkanizingwords from other languages) etc. as explained on our website (https://www.vangdda.org/participation-instructions). These Top20 entries will then go for “Public Voting” to decide the Top10 winners!
