PORVORIM: A major change in policy has been made by the Dr Pramod Sawant-led Goa cabinet, requiring applicants to know Konkani to apply for Group A and Group B positions in the State government.
The decision replaces the previous one in which Konkani was not required for these higher positions.
“Professors at professional colleges like architecture and engineering, as well as consultants for the Directorate of Health Services and Goa Medical College and Hospital, will be an exception to this rule,” said Sawant
He further said that Konkani language proficiency will now be required for Group A and Group B roles.
“It is not mandatory in the health and professional college categories, though, as it is challenging to find qualified professors in the fields of architecture and engineering in Goa,” CM Sawant.
